John-David Richardson is an artist, educator, and editorial photographer born and raised between Franklin County, Alabama, in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, and Marshall County, Kentucky. Their artistic interest and research center on understanding generational poverty and trauma related to class, family, region, and the American South.

John-David teaches photography full-time in the Department of Design, Art, Architecture, & Planning (DAAP) at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, OH. He has a highly active editorial career outside of teaching, and his work is frequently shown both online and in print by clients such as Business Insider, Bloomberg Business Week, Oxford American, NPR, The Wall Street Journal, and VICE.
